East London NHS Foundation Trust is committed to Thinking Family which entails putting the needs of child and adult service users, carers and their families at the heart of everything we do. We aim to help families receive the support they need, to minimise the risk of harm and to take appropriate and effective action when abuse or neglect has occurred or is suspected.

Safeguarding children is part of everything the Trust does.
All Trust staff, whatever their role in the organisation, have a legal duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children (unborn up to 18th birthday).
The Trust has a corporate Safeguarding Children Team to support mental health directorates in City and Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Bedfordshire and Luton, addictions services in Bedfordshire and a Wellbeing Service in Richmond. It also has a Safeguarding Children Team to support Community Health Services in Newham.
The Trust is an active member of six local safeguarding children boards (LSCBs) – those in City & Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Bedford Borough, Central Bedfordshire and Luton and has representation at their executive boards and sub-groups.
