The sixth annual Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia Conference will take place on Saturday 12th November 2016 at East Ham Town Hall. The conference titled ‘Celebrating Research in Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia’ aims to raise awareness of the condition, to provide pain management advice and medication guidance.

The annual conference is open to the public with families from across the borough coming together to learn more about the conditions in a relaxed environment. High profile speakers will include specialist consultant haematologists, nurses and academics from across the UK and Germany.  

MP for East Ham, Rt Hon Steven Timms will also be attending where he will have the opportunity to hear from local families and their experience of the disease and how the service has benefitted  them.  The event organised is by the Newham Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia team, led East London NHS FT. There will be a range of presentation on Sickle Cell, Thalassaemia and other haemoglobins. It is also an opportunity for clients to meet, share experiences and interact with medical professional in a non-clinical environment. The event is a fun and accessible for families, with activities for children to enjoy themselves such as face-painting, music and games.
