Bedfordshire Wellbeing Service is holding a webinar event aimed at Fathers or Fathers to be. The session covers the array of stressors that men may experience in the run-up to or during parenthood and explores brief Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) strategies that can be employed to better manage unwanted symptoms.
The webinar, titled Fatherhood & Low Mood, will take place on:
Monday, February 24th, 2020, starting from 18:00 and ending at 19:00.
How to access the event?
This is a one-off free webinar – you will need a computer/tablet/phone to watch. A Webinar is a live online presentation – you will not need to interact.
Who should attend?
The Bedfordshire Wellbeing Service is offering a free to attend webinar for those registered with a Bedfordshire GP surgery.
Why should you attend?
New and Expectant Dad’s in Bedfordshire are being encouraged to learn that they are not alone in experiencing low mood or anxiety as a result of the pressures of parenthood. When a new mother is distressed, it is likely the father is as well. In 50% of couples where the mother is experiencing low mood or depression, the father is as well. Furthermore, a study by the National Childbirth Trust (NC) in June 2015 found 1 in 3 dads (38%) are worried about their own health and 3 in 4 dads (73%) are worried about the health of their partner.
Unfortunately, men are less likely to talk to friends or go to their GP about how they are feeling, and we hope an anonymous webinar will allow them to feel less alone and learn some helpful strategies to move forwards with.
How to register?
You must register in advance. For more information or to register please visit the Bedfordshire Wellbeing Service website here. The service can also be called on 01234 880400.
