03 May 2017

The 8 May marks the beginning of Mental Health Awareness Week, a time to encourage conversations around mental health. For one week in May, people from all over the world come together to celebrate mental health awareness.

Every year, the Mental Health Foundation campaigns around a specific topic- this year’s theme explores how people can cultivate good mental health and the strategies and resources thrive in difficult times.

One in four adults experience mental health difficulties during their lifetime.  Living with metal health difficulty, in its mildest form can be manageable, for others, it can be more challenging. Mental health can occur suddenly and whilst there is no single cause, there are many different triggers.  For some, a stressful life event, physical illness or family history can cause mental health difficulties. Sometimes there may be no clear cause, however identifying the symptoms and seeking medical advice is an important first step.

The Trust is joining people across the UK to mark this week. Get involved in the conversation and join us at one of our events across East London, Luton and Bedfordshire from Monday 8 -  Friday 12 May 2017.
