A digital photography exhibition by social documentary photographer Sonalle will feature in LBGTQ+ activities in Newham during February. The title of the exhibition is:

Ethnic Minorities Coming Out - A Documentary Photographic Exhibition

18-22 February 2019 from 9.00am-5.00pm

Newham Home Treatment Team
Newham Centre for Mental Health
Glen Road
E13 8SP

The images will be screened onto a wall via a projector.

A quote which opens the  exhibition/installation at the Newham Centre for Mental Health, sets the scene:
Theoretically, sexuality should be one part of a person; not their whole personality. If you take that part and put it aside, you should be fine. Unfortunately, that's not how it works. It's like living a dual life.’   Ai Vee

Exhibition Theme
Through the combination of powerful imagery and text, Sonalle delves into the complexities of how ethnic minority LGBTQ+ people reveal their sexual orientation for the first time to themselves and those around them, portraying both the positive and  negative. The production of these images was funded by Unltd & Arts Council England.

The images are available for exhibition and can be seen with the accompanying text in:

Sonalle's photography has a particular focus. She says, "I aim to communicate what is frequently left unsaid; to deliver an insight into that detail we may not always perceive, or that we sometimes try to ignore."
