Bedfordshire’s Primary Care Mental Health Link Worker Service has expanded and is now providing mental health support to patients within an increasing number of GP surgeries across Bedford Borough and Central Bedfordshire.

Link Workers provide support and care to patients who are experiencing a range of common mental health problems such as anxiety or depression. This may be due to feelings of loneliness, relationship difficulties, bereavement, work or college related-stress, financial difficulties or for expectant or new mums who require additional support.

Team Manager of the Service, Michael Farrington explains:

"The aim of the service is to provide quick and easy access for patients over the age of 16 so that they receive the support that they require when they need it most. The Link Workers are based within GP surgeries which hopefully makes it easy for patients to access support in an environment that they are familiar with."

To access the support from one of the Link Workers, simply speak to your GP or a health care professional within your GP surgery.
