A mural co produced with service users and a local artist for the Newham Centre for Mental health has won a World Illustration Award. The mural was amongst eight other winners selected from 2300 entries from 64 countries.
Service users, carers and staff worked together local artist Johnny Glover to create the mural which was painted on the wall in the canteen. The artwork illustrates the local Quality Improvement work (QI) taking place and demonstrates how people can work together to drive improvements. The mural depicts Newham Greenway, a popular footpath and cycle route that runs across the area as well as people working together to improve their environment and celebrate achievements along the way.
The wall was officially launched in April where Trust Chair, Marie Gabriel said “what was most inspiring was the theme of a journey of hope, both in the co-creation of the wall and in the diverse journeys it depicts.’
Images of the mural will be display at Somerset House this summer before touring different sites. You can view some of the other winners by clicking here
