Three of ELFT’s mental health services were nominated for four categories for the 2019 Positive Practice in Mental Health Awards.
The Tower Hamlets Mental Health Liaison and Psychological Medicine Team was shortlisted for two categories for their exceptional work with adults and older people: the Integration of Physical & Mental Healthcare category as well as All Age Crisis and Acute Care (NHS England). The team works closely with the A&E department, substance misuse teams and the police as well as non-profit organisations to provide joint care to service users.
The team shortlisted for Specialist Mental Health Rehabilitation is the City and Hackney Community Rehabilitation and Recovery Service. This is a community rehabilitation service where clinicians work closely with the local authority, accommodation providers and voluntary sector agencies to look at providing broader care for individual service users.This model promotes independence by allowing people to be supported to live within the local community.
Shoreditch Ward, a Specialist Forensic Learning Disability ward at The John Howard Centre has been shortlisted for the ‘Quality Improvement and/or Service Transformation’ category for their Quality Improvement (QI) project ‘Flip the Triangle’. The project aims to increase focus on providing positive and proactive interventions to manage challenging behaviour and improve ward safety for patients and staff.
