A programme of work will commence in May and require the temporary move of Ivory Ward to Mile End to minimise the disruption to patients during this time.   The Trust will be carrying out remodelling works to Jade Ward at the Newham Centre for Mental Health. As part of this work, the Trust also plans to develop a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)  in Newham Centre for Mental Health.

The works will involve a considerable amount of noise and disruption which we believe could be distressing to Ivory ward patients and their visitors. Patients and staff from Ivory ward will be transferred to the Annex and Leadenhall wards at Mile End where they will continue to receive the same high standard of care.  The wards in Mile End are designed for older people and will be for the exclusive use of patients from Ivory ward.  Male and Female patients will continue to have separate sleeping areas.

The wards will be moving on the 8-9 May. The telephone numbers for the wards will be made available on the service page. The Trust website will be updated to reflect any changes. We aim ensure the minimum of disruption and change and to complete the work speedily and efficiently.

The Trust has now informed service users and their carers.  It is important that family and friends can continue to visit their loved ones at Mile End and we are committed to ensuring that no one is disadvantaged by this move.  A map and travel information has been provided to all patients and carers affected by this move.
