Marie Gabriel, the Trust's Chair, and Mary Elford, Vice Chair, have been reappointed to a further term at East London NHS Foundation Trust.
The re-appointments were unanimously agreed by the Council of Governor’s who are responsible for appointing or re-appointing the Chair and Non-Executive Directors. It was agreed that the Chair would be re-appointed for a further three year term from 1 November 2018 to 31 October 2021 and the Vice Chair would be re-appointed for a further term from 1 February 2018 to 31 October 2020. Marie’s reappointment follows a comprehensive appraisal process that included Governor feedback and incorporated the views of Board members. The feedback received praised the work Marie has done in leading the Trust and the Council of Governor’s and expressed that she was the right person to continue leading the Trust for a further term. The Council of Governor’s Nominations and Conduct Committee echoed this view, by recognising Marie’s significant contribution to the Trust as Chair.
The Council recognised the exceptional performance of the Board in 2016/17, such as securing an ‘outstanding’ CQC rating, the only mental health and community health services Trust to do so; gaining the HSJ Trust of the Year award, engaging staff effectively, achieving first nationally for engagement in the staff survey with an increase for Bedfordshire and Luton and maintaining the top three position for the community patient survey.
