The Trust’s psychiatric liaison team at Luton & Dunstable Hospital have been sharing information and advice with hospital colleagues as part of World Delirium Day.

They have provided a factsheet about the condition and an awareness survey as part of their work to help colleagues continue to develop their understanding of mental health issues patients may face along with dedicated training on delirium.

World Delirium Day is today, Wednesday March 15.

It is an international effort to raise awareness of delirium among patients, carers, healthcare professionals.
Luton Psychiatric Liaison Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr Muffazal Rawala, said: “World Delirium Day is a fantastic opportunity to highlight the condition amongst fellow healthcare professionals.

“We have a tremendous working relationship with colleagues at Luton & Dunstable Hospital and they have welcomed the opportunity to learn more about how to identify signs of delirium in patients and how to provide appropriate care.”

He added: “My colleague Dr Filippidou and I work closely with our geriatric medicine colleagues to increase awareness and improve patient outcomes for delirium"
