The tenacious work of healthcare services to help people give up smoking is in the spotlight on the World No Tobacco Day on 31 May.
Smokers are four times more likely to quit with support rather than trying to quit alone and ELFT is committed to support people in their journey towards becoming smoke free. The Nicotine Management Policy that came into effect on 1 January 2017 enabled the change of ELFT premises, grounds and vehicles into smoke free environments.
ELFT is developing a team of in-house physical health champions to provide support with helping people to reduce or stop smoking. Support available includes pharmacological products that help reduce the severity of withdrawal symptoms and reduce the desire to smoke.
As part of World No Tobacco Day, the Hackney Stop Smoking Service are hosting a stall and offering CO tests at the Homerton Hospital.
To find out more about how you can reduce or stop smoking, please contact your local stop smoking service. Alternatively, go to https://stopsmokinglondon.com/ or call NHS Smokefree on 0300 123 1044 for information on all services available.
