The Trust’s 14th annual Mental Health Research in East London conference took place on 5 October 2016 in the Robin Brooks Centre at St Bartholomew’s Hospital. The event was open to all and was well attended by staff, trainees, and other interested members of the public.
This format of the half-day conference was a series of very brief presentations on a wide range of research projects that are being conducted in the Trust. Attendees were able to get information on 14 different projects, ranging from epidemiological studies to clinical trials and qualitative work.
Feedback from the day was overwhelmingly positive: The event was “very well organised, informative” with “excellent bite-size info” delivered through a “fantastic range of presentations”.
“I enjoy coming to this event even if I am not a clinical as I enjoy learning and listening to different research.” While for clinicians the event provided “a chance to consider applications for research into many areas of my work”.
ELFT Non-Executive Director, Jenny Kay said, “Great afternoon. Very good to hear the breadth of research underway. (Impressed with) the youth and talent of the presenters (and some very experienced presenters with great “gravitas” too)! I learnt a lot.”
