How to Refer
Referrals to CAMHS can be made by contacting your GP or a teacher who can make a referral on your behalf if you are over 16 or with the consent of an adult you trust.
By contacting your GP or other professional to make the referral they will be able to collect all the details required on your behalf to make sure that the CAMHS team can deal with your referral as swiftly as possible.
Professionals can make a referral to CAMHS by completing the “Professionals” form here. Professionals include the following: GPs, Social Workers, Teachers or other Health Professionals.

Newham CAMHS is a multi-agency specialist mental health service for children and young people with complex, severe or persistent emotional, behavioural or developmental problems. We accept referrals from birth to their 18th birthday. See our specialist CAMHS website for more information.
Services include:
- Specialist multi-disciplinary clinics for adolescents, early childhood, learning disabilities / autistic spectrum disorder, children with severe conduct disorder, ADHD sufferers, therapies, counselling, medication.
- Multi-disciplinary assessment of all new referrals
- Emergency assessment of children and adolescents experiencing a severe mental health episode
- A rapid response service to the paediatric ward at Newham University Hospital to assess young people who have self harmed
