The growing population of Newham means that the number of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) has significantly increased.
In January 2023, we launched our new School Model which will allow us to be more visible in schools.
We now work in school hubs, covering geographical areas, supporting schools in ensuring OT is embedded into the schools programme to enable children with SEND to be fully included into school life.
Our process for receiving OT referrals from schools has now changed. If you would like to seek OT support and advice regarding a child in your school, please contact us via our OT Hub Contact Line. The OT Hub contact line (0208 586 6266) is open on Tuesdays 08:30 - 10:30am and Thursdays 15:00 - 17:00pm.
Our Model includes:
- Our updated Education Resource pack, where we have easy, helpful tips for schools to put in place for all children, making it easier for children to engage and participate in school life.
- Our updated Training Brochure for the coming year, providing schools with a range of trainings available on topics chosen by schools.
- Our new re-vamped Group Packages where we can support schools to set up a range of groups. These include, Messy Play Groups, Handwriting Groups, Get Set for Learning and many more.
- Problem Solving Sessions within schools.
