Equip works with people experiencing a first episode of psychosis, or are at high risk of suffering a first episode of psychosis. The service is offered for up to 3 years. Emphasis is placed on maximising mental health recovery and quality of life, as well as educational , vocational and community inclusion. The specialist team is composed of skilled and experienced multi-disciplinary professionals.

New referrals are offered an appointment with a qualified mental health worker within two weeks of referral.



Referrals are accepted from GPs, Primary and Secondary Mental Health Services and other services such as children's services and housing, via CHAMHRAS (0208 510 8011).
Speak to your GP who can refer you directly to EQUIP or Heads Up. New referrals are offered an appointment with a qualified mental health worker within two weeks of referral.
First episode of psychosis
Adults aged 18-35 years at high risk of developing psychosis

EQUIP works with people aged 18-65 years-old who either are or may be experiencing a first episode of psychosis. The service is offered for up to 3 years. Emphasis is placed on maximising mental health recovery and quality of life, as well as educational, vocational and community inclusion. The specialist team is composed of skilled and experienced multi-disciplinary professionals. New referrals are offered an appointment with a qualified mental health worker within two weeks of referral.

Heads Up is an Early Detection Service within EQUIP for young people (18-35 years-old) who might be at risk of developing psychosis. Changes in thoughts, feelings, how one sees the world, or having new experiences can be confusing and distressing, but are not as uncommon as people may think and can be caused by a variety of reasons. Heads Up is offered for up to 2 years and is a place to find specialist assessment, information, expert advice, and support with moving forwards.
