19th February to 23rd April.
Autumn Term 2019 was a great success!
Thank you to the students, tutors and college team members for all your support, commitment and hard work!
The term was the first in our new five-year contract and was marked by lots of exciting
events & courses including establishing strong relationships with the successful bidders of other Recovery and Wellbeing Services including Mind in Tower Hamlets & Newham, Hestia and the Working Well Trust.
As part of our contract, we will endeavour to develop strong links with these organisations to ensure our students get the best access and opportunities to use the full array of Recovery and Wellbeing Services on offer.
The College started the term with enthusiastic responses to the courses on offer including new courses Gender, Masculinity & Mental Health & Introduction to Social Media! This term we are returning with a social media course that will take a practical and more in-depth approach to using social media for recovery.
The College was also assessed by the East London NHS Foundation Trust Service User led Accreditation standards in August 2019 and we were awarded a Bronze Award in October 2019. Thank you to all the students, tutors and team members that participated in this. We are currently looking at the report and coproducing actions as suggested.
Our annual end of academic year celebration was held on 15th November 2019 at Spitalfields City Farm. Autumnal activities, food and a lovely fire burner set the scene for a warm and fun communal celebration. Thank you to all who attended and helped out - it was a great day!
I would also like to congratulate Tahara Matin, who previously held the post of Administrative Assistant for the Recovery College. She has now successfully secured the Administrative Lead post for the College and will be leading on developing our library space to hold more social and extracurricular activities separate to the courses.
Keep an eye out for invitations to coproduce the development of the library!
This Spring Term 2020, we are kicking off the decade with a host of unique new courses including “Understanding Inequality, Capitalism & Mental Health” and “Understanding how the NHS keeps your personal information confidential”. These courses are in response to themes of issues and concerns raised by students across courses and in Individual Learning Plans.
These subjects are also hugely important in today’s global political climate and technological world. We hope you enjoy them!
We are also bringing back other popular courses and amending others in response to students feedback, including a full-day “Understanding Bipolar” course and a 3 day “Gardening for Recovery” course. We thank you for your feedback. Please enrol onto these courses quickly to get a place!
We hope this term will be just as exciting as last and we look forward to seeing you this term!
