My name is Maureen Newsam, fondly known as Mo. My new job role is Digital Administration and Project Innovation Manager.
No two days are the same for me in my role. I can go anywhere from working with our reception staff and senior leaders, to supporting the Digital Programme Management Office, which has grown exponentially in the past 12 months. I oversee the coordination of diary management and meeting administration. I liaise with key stakeholders such as ICS and NHS Digital colleagues.
I thoroughly enjoy the variety of this job. I’m flattered to be the first port of call for a wide range of queries from desktop and network engineers, receptionists, project managers, executive assistants and communications and estates staff. What excites me most about the role is the fact that I work in an environment that directly impacts service user health and wellbeing, as digital is very much a frontline service nowadays. For example, through the Digital PMO I’ve helped support the initiation of projects like a wound care app and the digital Mental Health Act software.
Success for me means being the best that I can be in the role that I’m in. I feel successful when I know that the people I work with respect me and what I do. A previous employer once told me I am ‘a public servant, through and through’ and I bring a supportive can-do attitude to my work every day.
The biggest challenge in the past year has been delivering a quality service even with minimal resource. Digital has received backing to grow our department, so I am looking forward to our future as a team.
I originally came to work for the Trust as an executive assistant, then promoted to lead a team for the provision of admin support throughout the procurement of mental health services in Bedfordshire and Luton. Once this concluded I undertook a secondment working for Information Governance. I was brought into Digital as a Clinical Systems Project Support Officer 5 years ago…..and the rest as they say is history. I am extremely proud of my achievements during my time with ELFT and look forward to what the next chapter holds.
One thing I would say to anyone who is looking for a career in ELFT Digital is be prepared to be part of a professional and supportive team where everyone looks after each other.
