Over 20 volunteers planted the trees around the Twinwoods site and garden area which will grow over the years. Trees are important for the health of the environment and service users who will be onsite.
In the words of the NHS Forest team, “We inspire and support healthcare sites to transform their green space for health, wellbeing and biodiversity. A nature-positive health service is vital for building stronger, healthier and more sustainable communities. We help sites to plan, plant and manage trees, woodlands and green spaces to create habitats for wildlife and sustainable social spaces for people.”
The event was a success and helped by beautiful, sunny weather. It brought people together, raised awareness of sustainability and green initiatives and prompted positive engagement with the teams based there.

Sustainability and Net Zero Project Manager, Jeffrey Sham, said: “A strong goal for the Green Team at ELFT in the coming years is to further improve our Green Spaces and make them not only more enjoyable for staff and service users but also for the insect and wildlife that is so desperately needed to ensure we maintain an effective eco-system balance.
“Over the coming months and years we hope to keep improving our green spaces either through this NHS forest scheme or in partnership with our clinical teams based at sites that are in need of some green space improvements.”
