Tracy is a specialist dementia nurse who provides expert advice, support and understanding to families dealing with the condition. Supported by the charity Dementia UK, these nurses work with families to help them cope with the complex challenges of dementia and build their confidence in providing care.
She attended the festival to represent the ELFT Admiral nurse service based in community health Newham.
Zethu Makatini, a family and systemic psychotherapist from Newham Community Mental Health Team for Older People, also attended the festival as a clinician to support carers. She attended the event with Moments of Joy Meeting Centre, a social club for people living with dementia and their care partners in Newham, and the charity club’s trustee Brenda Marius.
The event was held at Newham Leisure Centre on October 4 2025 for residents aged 50-plus to find out about activities and services in the borough; connect with other residents and learn how they can get involved with delivering and shaping services.
It included Health MOT’s, vaccine clinics, Newham’s Got Talent Dance and exercise tasters, glass painting and international food court.
Other organisations involved included Newham Carers’ Community, the fire brigade, Newham Food Alliance, housing services, Nutrition Kitchen, AccessAble, Newham New Deal partnership, Lemonade Days, Barclays digital eagles, TeleCare, Newham Talking Newspaper, Newham Council customer services, Quit Well, All East Sexual Health and Live Well and Leisure.
“It was fantastic to meet everyone at this festival whilst representing ELFT, Dementia UK and to also network with other services,” said Tracy.
