Compass works to bridge the gap between voluntary, community, and social enterprise organisations (VCSEs) and healthcare services. It aims to do this by building capacity in the sector, improving the ability of VCSEs to engage with the NHS, and facilitating partnership working.
Across 2024/25, the key highlights from the report include:
-
Investing £4.4 million to launch 85 projects with voluntary and community sector organisations (VCSEs).
-
Supporting 440 projects to tackle poverty, isolation, and access to services.
-
Managing over 8,000 medical devices across ELFT’s sites, improving safety, reducing safety risks and cutting costs.
-
Reaching over 10,000 children and young people via the North Central and East London Provider Collaborative – a partnership between five providers of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).
-
Uplifting 230 people to the real Living Wage across projects with partners.
-
Supporting 140 initiatives from the ELFT Charity, which assists innovative projects that make positive change and go above and beyond what the NHS would usually provide.
To continue helping those living and/or working across ELFT’s boroughs, Compass plans to:
-
Co-produce a new strategy with VCSE and NHS partners that aligns with ELFT priorities, supports other NHS trusts, and explores expansion to other sectors.
-
Meet increasing demand for community-led solutions.
-
Provide resources to communities quickly and work with those with lived experiences of health conditions to measure effectiveness.
Commenting on the publication of the report, Chief Executive of Compass Wellbeing, Mathew Sheehan, said: "We are pleased to highlight the great work our organisation is delivering with local communities. This reflects our continued focus on working together with partners to reduce inequalities and improve wellbeing.
“I look forward to continuing to work with colleagues and valued partners in 2026 and beyond.”
