The Newham Safeguarding Adults Board has produced the anonymous survey. This is a grouping of public bodies responsible for providing local safeguarding arrangements to protect adults across Newham. The core members are Newham Council, the Metropolitan Police and the North East London Integrated Care Board (NEL ICB). The Board also comprises of other local partners, including ELFT, Barts Health NHS Trust and the London Ambulance Service.
The Act provides a legal framework for acting and making decisions on behalf of adults who lack the capacity to make decisions for themselves. The survey is for relatives, carers or service users themselves who have received Mental Capacity Act assessments, and it aims to improve the overall quality of care provided in Newham.
Resident feedback will help professionals better understand how the Act is being applied in everyday situations and identify areas where support, training, or communication can be improved. This will directly contribute to shaping safeguarding practice that protect and empower individuals across the community.
