From 16th June 2026 application forms on Trac, the Trust’s online recruitment platform, will include a Guaranteed Interview Scheme for Care Experienced Young People. The initiative mirrors the existing scheme that supports applicants who declare a disability and forms part of ELFT’s wider efforts to create fair and accessible employment opportunities.
Under the new arrangements, applicants who identify themselves as care experienced young people and who meet the essential criteria for a vacancy will be guaranteed an interview. The scheme is designed to help address barriers that care experienced individuals can face when entering the workforce and to ensure they have equal opportunities to demonstrate their skills and potential.
The introduction of the scheme reflects the Trust’s ongoing dedication to building a diverse workforce that represents the communities it serves. By supporting care experienced young people, ELFT aims to provide meaningful employment opportunities and contribute to improving long-term outcomes for individuals who may have faced significant challenges during their early lives.
Speaking on the scheme, Tanya Carter, Chief People Officer, said: "This initiative reflects our wider commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, in its broadest sense and will support us to build a workforce that truly represents and understands the communities we serve."
Recruiting managers and members of shortlisting panels are being asked to familiarise themselves with the change and ensure it is fully considered throughout the recruitment process. This will help guarantee that eligible applicants receive the support and consideration intended under the scheme.
The new Guaranteed Interview Scheme highlights East London NHS Foundation Trust’s commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace where talent is recognised and opportunities are accessible to all. Through initiatives such as this, the Trust continues to demonstrate its dedication to creating a supportive and equitable environment for both current and future employees.
