The Greenhouse Practice is asking organisations and members of the public to donate long-life food and warm winter clothing, including jumpers, blankets, tracksuit bottoms and scarves (no summer items). These will be distributed at its Christmas Fair on 5 December 2025.
The event will take place at the practice, 19 Tudor Road, and will offer free hot meals, clothing, flu jabs, and health and social care support.
The fair will act as a one-stop support hub for people living in hostels or supported accommodation, rough sleepers, sofa surfers, and anyone spending significant time on the streets or in public spaces.
Donations will help service users prepare for the colder months. Items can be dropped off at 19 Tudor Road or you can call 020 8510 4490 for more information.
The Greenhouse Practice is partnering with local organisations, including Groundswell, Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), StreetVet, Engage Hackney, Stop Smoking, Turning Point, and Liver Clinic to provide comprehensive support at the event.
"The Christmas Fair is an important opportunity to offer practical help and connection to those who may otherwise struggle to access support."
"We are asking our local community to join us in this effort by donating items such as warm clothing, toiletries and other essentials that people might otherwise go without."
"Together, we can ensure that everyone who attends feels valued, supported and better prepared for the winter months ahead," said Practice Manager Ruth Thacker.
The Greenhouse Practice is part of East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT), a provider of primary care, community health and mental health services.
The practice supports anyone in City and Hackney experiencing homelessness, living in a hostel, hotel, temporary accommodation or who are sofa surfing or not registered with a GP or finding it hard to register with one.
