The project was launched on International Peace Day on 21 September, and aimed at improving cohesion and unity in the context of global political violence.
Inspired by the power of art in social cohesion, ELFT Consultant Psychological Lead and the Division of Clinical Psychology's (DCP) Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Lead, Dr Sidrah Muntaha combined her musical passion and her commitment to public service by bringing together a diverse group of psychologists to produce, ‘Collective Cries’, a Bengali song which asks for peace during turbulent times.
Key tasks of the project included:
- A trauma-informed approach
- Artistic direction and narrative framing
- Forming a peace choir including an ELFT clinical psychologist.
- Production oversight - recording at a music studio, music production
- Considering the implication for health inequalities and population health
Dr Sidrah Muntaha engages in community arts as a creative outlet and hopes the video will inspire future creative collaborations combining health and the arts to support population health, improve health inequalities and foster good relationships between workforces and the communities we serve.
