OCEAN in Bedfordshire and Luton, which is an integrated maternal and mental health service, has been aiming to look at ways to improve support provided for families impacted by traumatic pregnancies.
Following perinatal trauma, it can be difficult to ensure that affected people are supported throughout their experiences, while giving them time to process what has taken place.
The service has created an online resource portal that allows creators to organise and share visual boards which include text, images and external web links.
This page provides information on:
-
Common responses following perinatal trauma and loss.
-
How to look after yourself or support somebody else.
-
Additional services, podcasts, books and videos with expert knowledge and skills.
The online resource portal can be accessed here: OCEAN Service: Bedfordshire and Luton
Commenting on the portal’s launch, Dr Amanda Spong, Clinical Lead for OCEAN in Bedfordshire and Luton, said: “We are really pleased to have our platform up and running. Our goal is to ensure that enough support and guidance is out there for those who are struggling, while also giving them the space they need to come to terms with the trauma they have experienced.”
Ellen Green, a service user based in Bedfordshire who has been instrumental in putting the portal together, added: “We wanted to make sure that the community have all the information they need when it comes to birth loss and trauma, including how to access OCEAN, self-help resources and other services available. Thank you to colleagues at OCEAN for your support with this project.”
