David Stevens, ELFT Director of Estates, Facilities and Capital Development, was presented the achievement at the Birmingham NEC on Thursday 2 October. The award was presented on the main stage on the final day of a three day conference at the UK Construction Week show.
The awards celebrate influential and inspiring individuals and role models who are shaping the future of the construction industry. In the face of growing challenges in the sector, recognising construction heroes has never been more important. These people inspire innovation, champion sustainability, and drive positive change across the industry. From seasoned leaders to emerging talent, these individuals are making a real difference every day.
The Role Model Award categories are Rising Star for emerging talent, Pioneer for those driving change, and Icon for individuals with iconic status. The Icon Award is for individuals whose lasting influence and excellence inspire future generations.
The judges said: “Combining technical expertise with inclusive leadership, David is a visible advocate for equity and representation, inspiring colleagues and shaping a stronger, fairer industry”.
David Stevens commented: “I’m honoured to receive the UKCW Icon Award – not something I expect to receive. The recognition is less about me personally and more about the vital role estates and facilities play in ELFT and across the NHS.
“Our work is about creating safe, sustainable environments for our service users and staff, while also helping the wider industry to progress. I hope this award helps to highlight the importance of NHS estates and the talented teams who deliver real change every day.”
