Day (pictured, left) will take over from our current COO, Edwin Ndlovu MBE, who is due to depart the Trust on the 9th of November 2026 to become Chief Executive of North East London NHS Foundation Trust (NELFT).
A start date for Day will be confirmed in due course.
Day has been part of the Trust since 2009. He joined as a Matron in our forensic services and over the years he has held a number of senior leadership roles across the Trust, including Deputy Head of Nursing, Head of Nursing, Associate Clinical Director for Safety and Security, and most recently Borough Director for Tower Hamlets Adult Mental Health, Autism and Learning Disability Services.
In his current role, Day has been instrumental in shaping and delivering the Barnsley Street Neighbourhood Mental Health Centre model through the Community Mental Health Transformation Programme. His leadership has helped strengthen partnerships, improve access to care, and support more integrated, community-based services for local people.

Farewell to Edwin Ndlovu MBE
As Edwin prepares to leave the Trust, Chief Executive Lorraine Sunduza OBE has also taken the opportunity to reflect on the exceptional contribution he has made to ELFT over many years.
“Edwin has made a lasting difference to our organisation, not only through the services he has helped to strengthen and the progress he has led, but also through the way he leads. He is kind, compassionate and authentic, bringing humility and integrity to even the most challenging situations,” she said.
