The Trust's Maternal Mental Health Service, OCEAN, joined Transport for London (TfL) and charities at a free public event to mark Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week 2026.
Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week, which runs from 4 to 10 May, marks its tenth anniversary this year. Around one in five mothers experience mental health difficulties during pregnancy or within the first year of their child's life, and up to half of cases go undetected or unsupported.
The event ran at the London Cable Car Experience on 6 May, offering Londoners a safe and welcoming space to learn about maternal mental health and the support available. Attendees heard from organisations working in this space, picked up information on how to access help, and enjoyed a free Cable Car ride as part of the day.
The day covered sensitive topics including baby loss and birth trauma, and attendees had the opportunity to collect a Baby on Board badge or the new Babies on Board badge, designed by TfL for women expecting twins, triplets or other multiple births.
OCEAN took part alongside the Perinatal Mental Health Partnership, MumsAid, Footprints Baby Loss and Sister Circle, a coalition working to reduce stigma, share information, and ensure women across London feel supported through pregnancy, birth and the early years of motherhood.
Justine Cawley, Lead for Perinatal Mental Health for OCEAN, said: "By coming here to the event today, we've been hoping to raise awareness. We've been doing talks with other colleagues working in this area, all coming together to highlight Maternal Mental Health Week."
OCEAN is a Maternal Mental Health Service, supporting women and birthing people in Tower Hamlets, Newham, Hackney and the City of London, as well as Bedfordshire and Luton.
