The role of Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) is to bring an independent perspective to our Board of Directors, while providing oversight, governance and leadership to the Trust. The successful candidate will work alongside other NEDs, the Chair of the Trust and Executive Directors as an equal member of the Board.
Some of the main responsibilities will include:
Strategy

Providing strategic vision to the Trust, leading in the discussions on the strategic development of the organisation.

Board level experience leading or advising on digital strategy (e.g. digital transformation, data innovation, Al, cyber security, digital inclusion).

Bringing independent judgement and experience based on a range of expertise including – but not limited to – carer, clinical, commercial, financial, housing, legal or governance expertise from outside the Trust, and applying this to the benefit of the Trust, its stakeholders and its wider community.
Leadership

Assisting fellow directors in setting the Trust’s values and standards and ensuring that its obligations to its stakeholders and the wider community are understood and fairly balanced at all times.

Upholding the Trust’s values by example and ensuring it promotes equity, diversity and inclusion for all staff, service users and other stakeholders.
Governance

Ensuring the Trust complies with its provider licence, constitution and any other applicable legislation and regulation.

‘Buddying’ senior executives in areas in line with their expertise.
Communications and Engagement

Acting as an ambassador for the Trust in engagement with our internal and external stakeholders including governors and the local community.

Representing the Board at official occasions or, as required, in dealing with the local media.
We are looking for somebody who has:

Board or senior management level/business experience in a large and/or complex organisation.

An understanding of how technology can improve operational efficiency, or patient outcomes or population health.

Previous NED experience.
The closing date for applications is Monday, 9 June 2025. Shortlisting takes place on the 25 June, before a stakeholder group on 3 or 4 July and final panel interviews on 9 July.
