Our friends at Well Newham have added our online resource, Be Body Positive, to Joy (also known as the Well Newham Directory of Services). This means social prescribers, link workers, GPs, nurses, and other health and social care staff nationwide can signpost to resources covering disordered eating and body image in young people. You can access the Be Body Positive Joy listing here.
What is Well Newham and Joy?
From June 2023, Well Newham is bringing together everything in one place to help you connect with a range of health and wellbeing services and activities in Newham.
Joy enables people and communities to link up and access local wellbeing services and support networks.
What is Be Body Positive?
Your new go-to destination for information and resources on disordered eating and body image, Be Body Positive offers clinically-led, guided modules which include:
✓ Evidence-based coping strategies
✓ Stories and experiences
✓ Quizzes
We provide the support and guidance you need to overcome challenges around eating, body image and wellbeing.
Our resources have been co-produced with young people, parents, carers and clinicians, and our partners include ELFT, NELFT, Barnardo's and East London Business Alliance.
Sarah Wilson, Director of Children and Specialist Services (ELFT) says: "In a digital world where negative and harmful views of body image can be difficult to avoid, Be Body Positive aims to carve out a nourishing and safe space. We hope young people will come to the site and learn how to feel at ease in their bodies."
