Occupational therapists (OTs), social workers and community mental health teams (CMHT), collaborated with Luton-based homelessness charity NOAH Enterprise to organise a donations programme and host an event to share donations with individuals.
The team requested donations of wrapped shoeboxes or gift bags containing a handwritten Christmas card and items including chocolates, essential items and activities such as a word search.
Generous colleagues, friends, family and service users all provided donations.
The objective was to provide a gift experience and help people understand they are valued and deserving – promoting a sense of wellbeing and inclusion.
The event took place at NOAH on December 12 and was supported by Razors, a barbers from Houghton Regis, who provided free haircuts.
Janet Morton, operational lead for Stockwood CMHT, described the initiative as an incredible team effort.
“I cannot praise my colleagues enough for their determination to help others by organising this initiative and everyone who kindly provided donations,” she said.
“The event was a great success and the haircuts and gifts were very much appreciated by everyone who attended NOAH that day.”
