The article discusses the different types of restrictive interventions and describes some strategies that can support reduction of their use in mental health settings. Topics discussed include different types of restrictive interventions such as enhanced observations, seclusion and restraint; ethical issues and legal framework around restrictive interventions; and strategies to prevent behaviour that challenges and reduce the need for restrictive interventions.
