The Podiatry Service provides a range of specialities and techniques, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, training and advice, with an emphasis on prevention and self-management in order to reduce pain and maximise improvement in foot and lower limb conditions, thus improving or maintaining the patient’s mobility and quality of life.

Our Acute Multidisciplinary Foot Teams are based at Bedfordshire Hospitals. The Multi - disciplinary team are a dedicated group of healthcare professionals working collaboratively to provide comprehensive care for patients with complex foot conditions.
This team includes a Consultant Endocrinologist, Vascular Surgeon, Orthopaedic Surgeon, Podiatrists, Vascular Nurses, Antimicrobial Pharmacists, and Support Staff, all focused on delivering personalised and expert treatment for acute foot-related issues.
By bringing together specialists from various disciplines, we ensure that every aspect of our patient’s foot health is addressed—from managing diabetes and vascular concerns to providing surgical and non-surgical interventions.
Our approach aims to prevent limb amputation, protect limbs, and save lives, improving outcomes and enhancing recovery to ensure the highest level of care for your feet.
The Podiatry Service provides a Nail Surgery Service for patients requiring partial or total toenail removal under local anaesthetic. Assessment for this Service is open to all patients other than those with a History of allergic reaction to local anaesthetics. Some patients may be deemed unsuitable for this procedure at assessment or triage, in which case they will be assessed under our general criteria.

If they are not available or it is out of hours, go to your nearest accident and emergency department. Remember, any delay in getting advice or treatment when you have a problem can lead to serious problems.

Our MSK service aims to provide relief to lower limb discomfort where possible. After a Musculoskeletal (MSK) assessment with one of our Podiatrists you may be issued with footwear advice, exercises, or insoles/orthotics to assist with your MSK condition.
