Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) for Older People in Newham

The Community Mental Health Team (Older People) is an integrated mental health and social services team that provides psychiatric and social needs assessment, intervention, and treatment. The CMHT operates as an outpatient service that aims to provide a high-quality service to older people with mental health problems by engaging and supporting service users, their carers, and families.

The service is made up of community mental health nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists, and support workers. The CMHT operates a Single Point of Entry for ALL referrals to Mental Health Services for Older People.

The service can provide support, treatment and interventions for a range of mental health conditions including schizophrenia, bi-polar disorder, psychosis, depression.

There is a separate team who can assess older people with memory problems.

The service takes self-referrals and referrals from family members, carers and health and social care professionals.
