East London Community Forensic Service
East London Community Forensic Service (ELCFS) provides support, care and treatment for service users in the transition, and after discharge from secure mental health care settings.
We are a multidisciplinary service including Consultant Psychiatrists, Forensic Community Psychiatric Nurses, Social Workers, Peer Support Workers and Therapists. We work across all East London Boroughs (Hackney, Newham and Tower Hamlets) as well as the North East London Boroughs (Waltham Forest, Barking, Dagenham and Havering and Redbridge).

We support service users during their discharge from hospital through our Inreach Programme.

We provide supervision and monitoring in the community for service users as required by the Mental Health Act (Section 42 conditionally discharged service users)

We provide support through care coordination and social supervision, and link in with relevant advocacy providers

We offer a range of individual and group therapies (Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Family Therapy, Drugs and Alcohol workers, Arts Therapies).

We link in with local organisations, vocational providers and educational organisations to signpost and support service users to engage and develop through education activity and employment
- We work in collaboration with various agencies and services such as Ministry of Justice, MAPPA, local authorities and accommodation providers to meet identified service users’ needs and manage risks.
- We have an active Peer Support, Carer Peer Support and People Participation network – we offer Peer Support Worker training and opportunities
- We provide support and training to linked accommodation providers
- We offer a specialist advice and risk assessment for patients under the care of the adult mental health services through our liaison and consultation service.
We accept referrals from the inpatient secure care settings for community care coordination and adult mental health services for advice and consultation.
