Liaison and Diversion Service (Bedfordshire and Luton)

We work out of Luton and Kempston police custody and the Bedfordshire Magistrates’ Courts, offering a screening and triage service to vulnerable adults who are going through the criminal justice process.

Vulnerabilities may include mental health, personality disorder, acquired brain injury, learning disability, autism spectrum disorder, co-morbid presentation with alcohol and substance use.

Our purpose is to support health and social equity in the criminal justice system and outcomes can include liaison with and referrals to other agencies, and diversion away from the criminal justice system, eg under the Mental Health Act.

Our team is based in Charter House in Luton with satellite bases in Luton custody, Kempston custody and the Bedfordshire Magistrates’ Courts in Luton.
