How can I book a blood test?
✅ Online: Use Swiftqueue on your phone or computer.
✅ QR code: Use the QR code on the poster at your GP surgery.
✅ At your GP surgery: You can ask your GP or the receptionist to book the appointment for you while you are there.
✅ At the clinic: If you regularly need blood tests, staff can help you book your next appointment before you leave.
There is a dedicated diabetic phlebotomy room at Shrewsbury Road Health Centre.
The service takes blood from children aged 4 years and upwards.
Why do you use an online system for booking blood tests?
Blood testing services now use online booking to keep people safe and reduce waiting times. With online booking, you choose an appointment time and simply arrive when it's your turn.
What do I need to bring?
You must bring your blood test request form from your doctor or nurse. This tells us which blood tests you need. Swiftqueue only books your appointment time. It does not tell us which tests to do.
Do you have waiting rooms?
We no longer have waiting rooms for blood testing. This helps protect vulnerable patients from infections. It is also more efficient. You can book in advance and attend at your set time.
Can I walk in without an appointment?
No. The service is appointment-only. We are not able to see people without a booking. Every appointment slot is used each day. This helps us see everyone efficiently and avoid overcrowding.
What if my GP says I need a blood test urgently?
Your GP must use a request form that clearly states it is urgent. We have a small number of protected urgent slots across our sites, usually between 7 am and 2 pm. Capacity is limited, so we prioritise patients who need urgent testing.
For most people, the average wait is about five days.
What if I don't have a computer or internet access?
If you cannot use the online system to book your appointment, you can:
-
Ask your GP or nurse to book the appointment for you.
-
Call our help-desk hotline: 020 8475 2199 (press option 2).
-
Our phone lines are open Monday to Friday, 9 am–3 pm (excluding bank holidays).
We're happy to help you find a convenient appointment.
What if I need help in another language?
Our online booking system is available in several languages. If you need help, please ask your GP surgery or the person requesting the blood test to help you book it while you are there.
How long will I wait for an appointment?
For routine blood tests, please expect around one week for the next available slot.
