Too unwell to go home, the team worried that they could not provide a dignified, calm and respectful environment to people in mental health crisis during a distressing episode in their lives. So they gave some thought to how they could creatively provide comfort and therapeutic engagement until a hospital bed became available.
They came to the ELFT Charity with a modest shopping list which we were glad to support. This included noise cancellation headphones and ear plugs; adult colouring books, trace-the-dot books, word search books, crayons, pencils, and pens, sensory toys (fidget toys, stress balls),
a wall projector to watch films, sensory lights, and plants and wall displays. All things that could distract, calm and make the time go quicker.
In Small Charities Week (22-26 June) it just goes to show that small things can make a BIG difference.
