Bedfordshire, Luton & Milton Keynes Autism Service
We provide specialist autism assessment for adults (18+ years) for people with a registered GP in Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes.
Our service is 'neuro-affirming'; we do not use deficit-based language. BLMK Adult Autism Diagnostic Service has been co-designed and produced with autistic people.
The experiences you share with us from referral and throughout all stages will add to the outcome report you will be given on discharge. This will include a clear rationale for how we reached our diagnostic decision.
The service operates on a multi-disciplinary model of local and community-based assessment, working alongside other Health Services (specialist & primary care), Local Authorities, independent and voluntary services.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
- We are not commissioned or resourced to provide therapeutic interventions or support for autistic people. However, psychoeducation is embedded in our practice.
- If you are leaving the area for a fixed period and need to re-register with a temporary GP (i.e., for university), please notify us so that you are not inadvertently removed from our wait list.

We do not have clinical staff available to answer telephone inquiries. You may get to talk to a receptionist/administrator or get transferred to voicemail, where you can leave a message. You can also email us. We always aim to respond as soon as possible.
Self-referrals are accepted by this service. Referrals can be submitted by any of the following:
- By adults (or people supporting them) requesting an assessment
- GP or other Primary Care services
- Specialist healthcare services – e.g. Community Mental Health, Local Authority, Child & Adolescent Mental Health (for young people in transition to adult services)
