About Medical Education

ELFT Medical Education is a major educational provider for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Medical Education in East London (Health Education England North Central and East London), and Luton and Bedfordshire (Health Education East of England).

The Trust employs over 400 medical staff including Consultants, Specialty and Associate Specialist (SAS) doctors and doctors in Postgraduate training.

Our training programmes include Core and Specialty Psychiatry Training, GP Specialty and Foundation Training. We currently support Medical Students from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry (Queen Mary University of London) and Cambridge University.

We also provide support to the North East London (Bart's and the Royal London) Specialty Psychiatry Training Scheme.

What we do

  • Provide education and training for Undergraduate Medical Students
  • Ensuring high quality of education and training for the Postgraduate doctors
  • Deliver and improve the infrastructure to support education and training
  • Develop a faculty and trainers to support education and training 
  • Dynamic introduction of innovative teaching schemes in response to changes in evidence based training and service delivery characteristics
  • Contribute to the overall medical workforce development
  • Delivering high quality MRCPsych programmes for core trainees
  • Providing an environment for education and training across the Trust
