Mental Health Inpatient Services in Bedfordshire provide a range of Inpatient services to working age and older adults patients, including 6 working-age acute wards, 1 male PICU and 2 older adult units for patients with functional and organic disorder.  A new CAMHS inpatient unit is currently under construction and is scheduled to open at the end of 2022.

The majority of inpatient wards are located in the south of the county adjacent to or in the environs of the Luton & Dunstable Hospital. ELFT is in the process of designing and building a new state of the art Centre for Mental health in Bedford scheduled to open in 2025 where satellite wards will be relocated in the future.
