We are a multi-agency specialist mental health service for children and young people with complex, severe or persistent emotional, behavioral or developmental problems.
We accept referrals from birth to their 18th birthday.
Services include:
Referrals to CAMHS can be made by contacting your GP, teacher or other health professional who can make a referral on your behalf if you are over 16 or with the consent of an adult you trust.
By contacting your GP or other professional to make the referral they will be able to collect all the details required on your behalf to make sure that the CAMHS team can get you help as quickly as possible.

Your first appointment with Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) is an assessment that helps the team get to know you and decide on a support plan. You can expect to meet with a CAMHS worker and your parent or guardian, and the appointment usually lasts about an hour.

CAMHS will keep what you say private, unless they believe you or others might be at risk of harm. In that case, they might speak with someone who can help, such as family or school. They'll also respect your right to not share certain things.

Directions from Plaistow Tube Station:
1. Exit Plaistow Station:
- Upon exiting the station, turn left onto Pelly Road.
2. Walk along Pelly Road:
- Continue walking straight down Pelly Road until you reach the intersection with Barking Road.
3. Turn right onto Barking Road:
- After reaching Barking Road, turn right and continue walking.
- Newham CAMHS is located on Barking Road, in the direction towards Canning Town.
4. Continue walking along Barking Road:
- Walk past the small parade of shops. The building should be on your left side, located near the junction with Greengate Street.
- Look for the signage for CAMHS or the building name.

- Bus Stop:
- The nearest bus stop outside Plaistow Station is Plaistow Station / Greengate Street (Stop M).
- Bus Routes:
- Take bus Route 241 or Route 325 towards Stratford / Prince Regent.
- Alight at Greengate Street (Stop U).
- Walking from Bus Stop:
- Once you alight, continue walking in the direction the bus was traveling for a short distance.
- The entrance to Newham CAMHS will be a short walk from the bus stop, on your left.
