These co-produced videos offer a compelling and personal look into the services’ methods of treatment the Trust provides, as told through the voices of people with lived experience.
At ELFT, we believe that the insights of those who use our services are invaluable. That’s why these videos have been co-created with individuals who have first-hand experience of living with learning disabilities. Their stories form the foundation of this initiative, bringing authenticity, warmth, and vital perspective to how we support people with learning disabilities across our communities.
The aim of this video project is to:
- Raise awareness about learning disabilities in our local communities
- Break down barriers for service users, families, and carers to access information and support
- Offer clear insights into what our Adult LD Services offer across Tower Hamlets, City & Hackney, Bedfordshire, Newham and the FIND NEL Team.
- Celebrate the voices of those with lived experience
- Encourage wider community and staff engagement
- Reinforce ELFT’s ongoing commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion
Commenting on the videos, Ruth Cooper, LD Lead for ELFT said:
“These videos are a reflection of the values we hold dear at ELFT; listening, learning, and working together. By co-producing the service videos with people who have lived experience, we not only raise awareness but also challenge stigma and promote understanding.
We hope the videos resonate with local communities, encourage conversations, and help more people learn about their local adult learning disability service and feel confident in accessing the support they deserve.”
Whether you're a service user, a family member, a carer, or a healthcare professional, these videos serve as an accessible introduction to our Learning Disability Services. They provide clarity on available support, what to expect when accessing services, and how we tailor care to meet individual needs.
