The Newham Community Paediatric Dietetics Service is part of the Children’s Community Nursing Service (CCNS), within East London NHS Foundation Trust’s Specialist Children and Young People’s Services (SCYPS).
We provide care for infants, children and young people in Newham (aged 0–18 years, or up to 19 years for those receiving palliative care) who have neurological or developmental conditions, require palliative care, and/or depend on tube feeding. Referrals are accepted from GPs and other healthcare professionals.
The wider CCNS includes the Diana Team (Children’s Palliative Care), Community Children’s Nursing Team (CCNT), Epilepsy, Continuing Care, Specialist School Nursing and Asthma Services.
You can access a range of our guidance booklets and useful resources below, including both internal and external links.

Other Useful Websites & Resources
Tube Feeding
Some of our patients may require tube feeding via a pump to support their nutrition, which will usually be an Amika pump from Fresenius Kabi. The instructional video below may be useful for family members needing to operate the pumps. There is also a Amika Pump User Guide PDF document available to download in the Nutrition Advice Booklets section on this page.
Dietetic Clinic rooms
We have created a video so you and your child can see the dietetic clinic rooms ahead of the appointment (currently there are 3 rooms).
We understand that your child’s needs may extend beyond nutritional support. If your child has autism or other sensory requirements, please inform us in advance so that we can make appropriate accommodations.
- This may include:
- Providing a low-light environment to reduce sensory overload.
- Allowing the use of ear defenders or sunglasses during the appointment.
- Opening windows for ventilation if needed.
- Ensuring a calm and quiet space for the duration of the appointment.
- Bringing along sensory toys or comfort items that may help your child feel more at ease
