Individual therapy may consist of telephone sessions or online face-to-face sessions. The length of each session, the number of sessions and the frequency of sessions will vary depending on the main presenting problem and the level of severity of difficulties. The first stages of individual therapy usually involve an assessment and creating a shared understanding between client and therapist of the client’s difficulties and maintaining factors. The treatment plan is then discussed and agreed upon. Bedfordshire Wellbeing Service offers short-term evidence-based interventions, predominantly based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy principles.
Your assessing therapist would be happy to discuss further with you and guide you to clinically appropriate treatment options based on your main presenting difficulties.
Due to Covid-19, all current face-to-face treatment is taking place online via a program called 'Cisco Webex'. To use Webex you will require a desktop computer/laptop/tablet / mobile phone which is connected to the internet and has sound and a microphone enabled. Your therapist will email you a link to your session - all you need to do is click the green 'Join Meeting' button in this invitation to connect to your session.
Online session troubleshooting:
- I haven’t received an email with a link to the session.
Please check your junk folder for your email accounts, unfortunately, sometimes emails from NHS accounts can end up here.
- I try to log on but there is no room to connect to.
You can only log into a room if your therapist is there first. Please exit, wait a few minutes
and try again.
- Webex is trying to install an app but this isn’t working.
If there are problems involving the app, on the screen, there will be an ‘Open in browser’ option which you can select. Webex should open as normal.
- I cannot be heard/cannot hear the other person
Please check your microphone and speakers/headset are on and turned up.
