We understand that the Perinatal Period is a time that can bring change for all members of a family and we know that a partners individual own mental health can be affected. Partners of women accessing specialist Perinatal mental Health services themselves face increased vulnerability to depression and anxiety and may want professionals to acknowledge how difficult things are for them, and to check how they are. Partners and other family members have to manage their own worries about the mother, cope with changing relationships, and deal with other people’s concerns and questions. They are usually the first to notice a deterioration in the mothers’ mental health the first to pick up early signs of relapse the main support for mothers following discharge from mental health services.
The Perinatal Services can help you identifying and validating ' distress, and supporting you to seek help. We are now proud to announce that we will be offering partners assessments also known as a "well being chat" through ELFT Perinatal services. A well being chat will allow a professional with in the team to meet with you and identify if you need any support or further treatment for yourself.
